I thrive on communication and connection. It's simply part of my soul. It's what makes me
an excellent writer, a strong leader, an effective coordinator and a friendly, genuine
individual.
I spent my college years studying Advertising and Public Relations at the University of
Illinois. I interned for local art galleries, Time Warner Telecom and John Deere before
AlliedSignal (now Honeywell) recruited me out east for corporate communications. But New
York wasn't it. I needed a yard, neighbors who weren't afraid of eye contact and a mailbox
without a key. Denver welcomed me with wide, open spaces.
I was an official dot-commer with Primedia's Modern Bride group for three years, serving
as producer for the online division. There, I learned information architecture, led
e-commerce initiatives, aligned print and online content strategies, concepted magazine
campaigns, implemented a content management system and was instrumental in creating a
cohesive online and in-store wedding registry system with retailers such as Bed, Bath &
Beyond and May Company. I also improved my foosball skills.
With experience, drive and a passion for tackling new projects, I began my own business
in 2002. I now provide project management, e-commerce consulting and content to companies
like Qwest, A.G. Edwards, Horizon Interactive, Exempla Healthcare, Boston Market, Planned
Parenthood and several others.
I have farming and entrepreneurial roots and grew up in small-town Illinois just a sandal
flip from the Mississippi river. Whether I'm training for a marathon, managing a project,
practicing piano, volunteering for Planned Parenthood or entertaining on my patio, I do it
with DRIVE. I work hard and play hard.
I read the Economist.
I read the Onion.
I moved to four different cities not knowing a soul.
I represented America as a Goodwill Rotary Ambassador in England.
I participated in the 24-hour relay from Idaho Springs to Glenwood Springs.
I watch the Broncos.
I spent a month in Madagascar.
I went bamboo rafting in Thailand.
I sometimes get into cars with strangers.
My experiences have shaped my style, my life and my ability to tackle a project. Whether
it's London, Champaign, Boulder, New York City or Denver where I live, I express myself and
my messages with humanity, adventure and security.
I now wake up most mornings in the mile-high city. Here, I Chair the Young Advocate’s Council
for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and I serve of the Planned Parenthood Board of Directors. I’m also currently
enrolled in the Graduate School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado at Denver, going after my Masters in Public
Administration.
Disclaimer: Unlike the stereotyped
creative, I'm a planner. I have my Christmas card list on Excel, I should have stock in Franklin
Covey, I remember passwords, I call people back right away and I notice little things like
haircuts, logos and background music.
